High-resolution imaging with field-emission SEM: the need for downstream plasma cleaning in biological applications

چکیده

For high-resolution visualization and image capturing of biological samples, the cleanliness of the high-vacuum imaging environment, including both instrument and sample surface, have become important aspects to ensure electron beam stability and high signal-to-noise ratios (SNR). Regular downstream plasma cleaning of both SEM chamber and specimen is required to ensure an uncontaminated instrument that can deliver accurate, reliable and repeatable secondary and backscattered electron data. Development of new imaging technologies and sample requirements may provide novel challenges to instrument and electron microscopist. Control of a clean imaging environment through regular plasma cleaning, prevents contamination build-up throughout the SEM, and results in improved beam stability and SNR for highresolution biological imaging.

Introduction Range and diffusion of positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals are important parameters for image resolution in positron emission tomography (PET). In this study, GEANT4 toolkit was applied to study positron diffusion in soft tissues with and without a magnetic field for six commonly used isotopes in PET imaging including 11C, 13N, 15O, 18F, 68Ga, and 82Rb. Materials and Methods GEA...

Noninvasive Stem Cell Labeling Using USPIO Technique and their Detection with MRI

Background: To date, several imaging techniques to track stem cells are used such as positron emission tomography (PET), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), Bioluminescence imaging (BLI), fluorescence imaging, CT scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Although, overall sensitivity of MRI compared to SPECT and Bioluminescence techniques are lower, but due to high spatial reso...

Synthesis of Serrated GaN Nanowires for Hydrogen Gas Sensors Applications by Plasma-Assisted Vapor Phase Deposition Method

Nowadays, the semiconductor nanowires (NWs) typically used in hydrogen gas sensors. Gallium nitride (GaN) with a wide band gap of 3.4 eV, is one of the best semiconductors for this function. NWs surface roughness have important role in gas sensors performance. In this research, GaN NWs have been synthesized on Si substrate by plasma-assisted vapor phase deposition at different deposition time, ...
